Stuff a Shed for Hunger'07
A Holiday Food Drive

November 12, 2007 - Ellington, CT: Big Y World Class Markets & The Barn Yard are pleased to announce their “Stuff a Shed for Hunger” holiday food drive benefiting many local food banks in need during this holiday season.

Based on USDA figures, nearly 110,000 households in Connecticut are food insecure. Food insecurity is the lack of assured access at all times to enough food for healthy, active lives.

The “Stuff a Shed for Hunger” holiday food drive will begin November 12 and end January 7. Donations of nutritious, nonperishable items may be brought to the Ellington, East Windsor or Tolland BIG Y and placed in the shed, provided by The Barn Yard, between 7:30 am and 10 pm, 7 days a week.

“As a business with deep community roots, we are pleased to help our neighbors through this food drive,” said Everett Skinner, owner, The Barn Yard. “We strive to be active members of our community and take great pride in doing business in the area by helping those in need.”

Both family-owned and oriented businesses, Big Y and The Barn Yard are dedicated to serving their customers and community with unparalleled quality and customer service.

“Our goal is to exceed our customers' and community’s expectations by constantly seeking better ways to create and deliver World Class service and value to our local communities,” said Michelle Crawford, Manager, Ellington BIG Y. “Offering assistance to our neighbors in need is a priority and we hope our customers will join us in the spirit of the holidays.”
